Find the right air conditioner size for a room from its area and ceiling height, floor position, sunny windows, number of people and heat-giving devices. The result is shown in BTU and tons with the nearest standard AC size.

A typical room needs about 100 BTU per sq ft, so 150 sq ft needs about 15,000 BTU, i.e. about 1.25 ton — a 1.5 ton AC is the nearest standard size. Hot top-floor rooms need more.
